Diets fail because:

The Unconscious Mind is often programmed to gorge ourselves with heaps of luscious food to maximize our pleasure, while the Conscious Mind wants us to have a healthy, attractive, energetic body. You are reading this article because you know from experience which mind wins.

As we saw, the Conscious Mind is merely the tip of the iceberg. Even when our willpower is excellent, since our Unconscious Mind generally prevails, willpower-based diets are doomed to fail.
Willpower is like gas in the gas tank which is used as we go through our day. Toward the end of a stressful day, we tend to deplete much of our willpower. Therefore, many people binge eat at the end of the day.
- The Unconscious Mind is programmed for more. It wants more food, more calories, more pleasure. Diets are about less. Until this unconscious conflict is resolved, any diet you try will likely fail.
- The Unconscious Mind thinks of food as a reward.
Many people go through our life relying on other people for our rewards. When we finally have an opportunity to take charge of our own reward, we go for it.
Until the driver of our eating habit is changed at the Unconscious Mind, many people will continue to waste much time, money and energy on unsuccessful diets.
